Things to do ...
The nearest village, St. Pierre de Maillé, is within 2kms and provides cafés, a restaurant and bars, a supermarket, tennis courts, horse-riding, a hairdresser’s, garage and post office.

Locally are numerous restaurants, chateaux, gardens to visit, local markets, night clubs, vineyards and off-road walking, riding, cycling and boating on lakes and rivers by canoe or kayak.

For children there are lots of activity choices within easy reach including several zoos, wild bird displays, go-karting, bowling and paint-balling. River and lake bathing, fishing, canoeing and rock climbing are also available nearby.

Just 5 minutes by car will bring you to Angles sur l’Anglin, one of the most beautiful villages in France. Visit the new centre dedicated to the story of Stone Age cave dwellers. Within a 10 minute drive you can visit the World Heritage site of St Savin Abbey with its 12th century frescoes, the oldest in Europe.

Equally close is La Roche Posay, famous for its thermal waters and beauty treatments. Play a round on the 18-hole golf course, gamble at the casino, go horse-racing or simply visit the colourful market and  medieval quarter.

Places to go...
15 minutes to the west of Le Village du Bois is the medieval market town of Chauvigny where you can visit the castles, ride on the velorail or watch the famous bird displays. There is also a superb Saturday morning market.

A 40-minute drive will take you to the regional capital and ancient cathedral city of Poitiers, and the Parc de Futuroscope, an amazing 130-acre ‘high-tech’ theme park with 3D film games, interactive video games and laser light shows.

To the north east you can visit the internationally renowned Brenne natural park of 1,000 lakes and explore the chateaux of the wine-producing Loire valley.

A day trip will bring you to the Atlantic coast centred on the beautiful port of La Rochelle, widely considered the most attractive and unspoilt seaside town in France.

There are numerous attractions to suit all ages and all tastes ranging from the Valley of Monkeys, Snake Island, Crocodile Planet, Cave Paintings to Montmorillon, the Town of Books.
